MEET THE MINIATURE HORSES

Just rescued in March of 2009

    Come meet Little Baby.  In March of '09' when we adopted her from Spring Hill Horse Rescue she was only 5 months old.  She is approximately 24 inches tall at the shoulder....which would mean, she is 6 hands high (each hand is 4 inches).  She weighs a whopping 125 pounds!  Her little hooves are the tiniest things you have ever seen.  She is still quite timid...... but every day we are seeing improvement.  She and the Drafts have become fast friends.  It is quite hilarious to see her tiny little body buck and kick when she frolics in the field with the big boys.

    LeBron (named by our basketball obsessed daughter, Necola) is also a miniature horse. We took him at the same time we got Little Baby from Spring Hill Horse Rescue.  LeBron is approximately 5 years old and is 34 inches at the shoulder which would make him 8.2 hands high.  LeBron weighs about 250 pounds.  Now for some reason the Drafts ignore LeBron.  He doesn't seem to care one way or the other....but.....each day........... they all hang out a little more and more.  Horses are herd animals and they always work it out!

    We are working hard at socializing these 2 little guys.  Mini horses are truly horses in every way.......just shorter.  Hopefully down the road both of our new little friends will be pulling a small surrey or cart and doing children's birthday parties.  Can't you just imagine how much fun that would be?  Keep watching their progress and I will post updates on their successes.

    Come meet these 2 little cuties.  These minis will truly melt your heart.
